UPDATE: The camera refuses to function with the generic batteries. Having one generic and one authentic battery in the grip was working for a while, but not even that works anymore.The built quality on the battery grip is decent. My only real gripe is that the buttons are rubbery instead of firm like the Sony buttons. That being said the difference in build quality between the Sony and this does not justify the price of the Sony unit. The charger and batteries work well. I haven't seen how the batteries hold up to time, but I can vouch that they work. A firmware upgrade once made some of my generic batteries stop working, but these work fine.Heads up, this holds true for all battery grips/cameras unless you're using a pancake lens: You will not be able to sit your camera on a flat surface with a lens attached. The lens will always pull it down. This isn't a good way to leave your camera for an extended period of time.Worked with 1 battery in, but not 2. Very strange. Very disappointed.Never run out of batteries again. :-)
